Baglung’s Thamchaur Rural Municipality-7 is undergoing development as a tourist destination. Situated at an altitude of two thousand one hundred meters above sea level, this area’s development has been continuously supported by the rural municipality.

With the recent rise in cultural tourism, internal tourists are now flocking to Thamchaur. Located in the high mountain region, Thamchaur attracts tourists for its clean air, picturesque surroundings, and breathtaking views.

According to Ganesh Thapa, the Chairperson of Baglung Rural Municipality-7, the number of tourists has increased due to intense promotion alongside infrastructure development.

Thamchaur has seen the construction of temples and toilets by the municipality. Additionally, plans are underway to establish facilities for drinking water management and picnic spots. Tourists who previously visited on foot can now easily access the area by motor vehicle.

For the development of Thamchaur, around NPR 4 million has been invested so far, as informed by the former chairman Krishna Gurung. With the addition of motorable roads, tourists from other districts have started arriving, especially during festivals and the New Year.

Gurung mentioned that it takes about 40 minutes by vehicle from Bhimgithe Bazaar to reach Thamchaur, and tourists from various districts also come during holidays and festivals.

Various places in Baglung including Rishinga of Gulmi, Tamghas Bazaar, and Pyuthan can all be visited at once from Thamchaur, Gurung added. The stunning views, including those of Dhaulagiri and other Himalayan peaks, attract many tourists.

“Continuous investment has been made by the municipality for the development of Thamchaur. After the road problem was solved earlier, there has been an increase in tourists,” said Gurung, “The place is so beautiful that once you visit, you’ll want to come back. In recent years, there has been progress in road expansion. Currently, there is an increasing number of internal tourists coming here for vacations and various festivals.”
