The government has announced that Pokhara will be the main city for tourism development. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ made this announcement during an event by Fewa Lake at Barahi Ghat on Sunday. He said that Pokhara will be made more beautiful, safe, green, organized, and prosperous.
The Prime Minister mentioned that the government will work on fixing any problems Pokhara faces as a tourism hub. He also said that they will work with international partners and private investors to make Pokhara better for tourism.
The Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, said that this decision fulfills the dreams of the people of the province. Additionally, he stated that Pokhara businesses will be permitted to remain open till late some of them even 24 hours a day.
Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, the former prime minister, stated that Pokhara is a unique city in the globe. He believes that the lengthy process to formally designate Pokhara as the world’s tourism capital was worthwhile.
Now that Pokhara is the tourism capital, the mayor, Dhana Raj Acharya, pledged to increase investments in infrastructure for the tourism industry.
At the event, some important people were honored, and singer Prakash Saput entertained everyone with a song called “Galbandi”, including Prime Minister Dahal.
