The district assembly wants the provincial and federal governments to say that Humla district in the Himalayan region is a tourist area.
Shivaraj Sharma, who leads the District Coordination Committee, said they decided to ask for this during a meeting. He explained that even though Humla has lots of places tourists might like, not enough people know about them. So, the government needs to help these places grow into tourist spots.
At the meeting, everyone from the district agreed to ask for this declaration. They’re mainly focusing on places like Simikot, which is an important starting point for trips to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. Other areas they’re focusing on include Limi Valley, Saipal, Changla, Panchmukhi, and Raling Himal. These places have ancient sites like temples and monasteries. The representatives believe that if these areas are developed, it will help not just the district, but also the Karnali Province and the whole country.
