Kathmandu, Nepal: The historic visit of the Qatar Emir to Nepal strengthened bilateral ties with crucial agreements and MOUs.
The visit of the Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Nepal marks an important bilateral relationship between the two countries. This visit marks the first high-level delegation from a Gulf nation to Nepal since 1977 when both countries established democratic relations.
The Emir arrived on Tuesday evening and was accorded a prestigious guard of honor by the Nepali army, showcasing the warm welcome extended by the nation. Afterward, President Ram Chandra Poudel and The king held important talks at the Presidential office, Sheetal Niwas following a dinner hosted by The President for The Emir as an honor to the guest.
PM Prachanda and the king held a meeting today and shared a few talks. Following the bilateral discussion between Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, a formal agreement was reached and signed at The Soltee Hotel in Kathmandu.
The two nations sealed an agreement and exchanged six memorandums of understanding encompassing diverse realms of collaboration.
Rupak Sapkota, Foreign Affairs advisor to the Prime Minister, has announced that an agreement has been made between the two nations to work together in sectors including the government news agency, attorney general’s office, diplomatic training and studies, education, art and culture, and sports. After this meeting in the Soaltee Hotel, Prime Minister Dahal hosted a formal lunch for The Emir and departed home at 1 pm.
Nepal also intends to offer a present to the Emir, consisting of two beautiful baby elephants i.e. Rudrakali and Khagendra Prasad. They represent the essence of Nepal’s diverse wildlife and symbolize the bond of friendship between our nations. Amrit Rai, the spokesperson for Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of this gesture in strengthening our close relationship. However, this proposal to gift elephants is yet to be accepted by CITES headquarters in Geneva.
This meeting radiates optimism and opportunity. It symbolizes a shared commitment to mutual growth, development, and cooperation between Nepal and Qatar. The agreements paved the way for enhanced collaboration, cultural exchange, and strategic partnerships, fostering a brighter future for both nations.
