Kathmandu, Nepal- May 6, 2024- Nepal is brimming with the thrill of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup on June 1 where the national cricket team is playing for the second time. However, after a decade of fairly little international exposure, the Nepali Tigers team is now eager to be seen by an active global audience.
Nepal’s Cricket Association (CAN) revealed a 15-member squad led by the talented young captain, Rohit Paudel. The squad is a mix of experienced and promising youngsters, as Sompal Kami is the only player who’s seen cricket’s highest arena in the T20 World Cup 2014 and is being followed by Nepal now.
There are many expectations surrounding the batting unit, which primarily depends on the form of Paudel (the emerging batsman) and the amazing six-hitting talent of Dipendra Singh Airee. Other skillful batsmen like Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheik, will be crucial for providing stability.
In group D, there is a difficult game waiting where they will compete against cricket giants like South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Their match date is against the Netherlands on June 4th in Dallas, USA.
The whole country right now is backing the Nepali Tigers. High hopes are soaring for the Nepali team to spring a few surprises and carve out a memorable journey in T20 World Cup history.
