Badimalika

Badimalika Temple is the destination for the trekking. It is situated at 4200m above sea level. Upon arriving at the temple, one encounters the stillness of the place and the vibrant spirit of the devotees. In the main temple complex, there are statues along with intricate carvings plus bunches of bells that have been donated by worshipers. Badimalika offers an intense bond with the divine and provides support for one’s spiritual well-being. Devotees mostly visit during janai purnima and malika chaturdashi. during these festivals, the locals also organize fairs.
History and Myths of Badimalika Temple
According to Hindu mythology, The tale of Badi Malika begins when Sati Devi who was known to be the most beautiful and perfect daughter of Daksha Prajapati. She fell in love with Lord Mahadev (Shiva) but her father Daksha didn’t agree with their marriage. Eventually, they got married and started living in the Himalayas.
The whole affair started when Daksha organized a Yagya, which included all gods and goddesses except Mahadev and Sati. Sati found her father’s behavior unfair therefore she appeared in person during the ceremony, and confronted her father. But the father insulted and abused Mahadev, saying he was not the right man for his daughter.
In this rage, she jumped into the fire and died.
After hearing about the death of his wife Sati, Shiva got very furious and ordered his army and Ganas to kill Daksha. After killing Daksha, he was grieving about his wife’s death and carried her and traveled around the world.
While doing so, the body of Sati started rotting and started falling. It is said that the places where her body parts fell were worshipped and created powerful shakti peethas. Badimalika is also known as one of the saktipeethas, it is said that Sati’s left shoulder fell here and thus people started worshiping.
Triveni Patan
Tribeni Patan is a vast meadow with green grass amidst green hills. This place is nice, where there are many hills. From here you can see other highlands and so on. Also, it can be used as a starting point for those who want to go on a pilgrimage to Badimalika Temple.
The beautiful Himalayas can be seen while visiting the untouched beauty of Tribeni Patan. In this place, it feels like time reduces to slow rhythms set by nature. 7-Day Tribeni Badimalika Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Dhangadhi
- Travel to Dhangadhi: Arrive in Dhangadhi, via a domestic flight or bus and stay overnight.
Day 2: Dhangadhi to Martadi
- Travel to Martadi: Drive from Dhangadhi to Martadi, a town in the Bajura district, and stay overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 3: Martadi to Budha Kedar
- Start the Trek: Begin your trek from Martadi, heading towards Budha Kedar, a small village and you can camp or stay in a local lodge.
Day 4: Budha Kedar to Tribeni
On day 4, Continue the trek, towards Tribeni. The hike is about 12-15 km and takes 6-7 hours. You can Camp or stay in a simple lodge overnight.
Day 5: Tribeni to Badimalika Temple
Start early and hike to Badimalika Temple, The trek is steep and can take 6-7 hours. You can camp near the temple for overnight stay.
Day 6: Badimalika Temple to Martadi
Day 7: Martadi to Dhangadhi and Departure
