Kathmandu, Nepal- May, 9:This year, Nepal has achieved significant milestones in its herbal exports. A report from the Nepalgunj Customs Office has shown that Nepal has exported herbs worth more than Rs. 700 million in nine months from July 2023 to March 2024. This is great news for Nepal’s herbal industry.
Nepaljung holds the primary gateway to Nepal’s herbal exports. The city is considered a crucial center for keeping and shipping the medicinal plants grown in hilly regions of the country, especially those found along Karnali Province.
According to the Nepal Herb Traders Association, Timmur (Szechuan peppercorn), Ritha (soapnut), and Kaulo (beaver tree bark) are the top herbs driving Nepal’s herbal export success. These herbs are also known for their medicinal properties and culinary uses. They are also being used in making soap and shampoo.
According to the Nepal Herb Traders Association, these herbs are exported to India, Bangladesh, and Germany.
Despite different challenges and obstacles, the traders have managed to export herbs worth Rs. 700 million. This figure shows the rising demand for natural herbs in the international market. By leveraging the unique herbs, fostering sustainable practices and the export can boost the nation’s economy as well as show the quality and authenticity of these Nepali products to the world.
