Gosainkunda Fair has started in the Rasuwa district of Nepal. Gosiankunda is a beautiful and pristine lake situated at an altitude of 4380 m. The lake is a holy pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhist cultures. It is believed that Gosainkunda is the abode of Lord Shiva.
During the Ganga Dushera festival, the fair is organized at Gosainkunda. This year, the fair has started and devotees have flocked in. People have started hiking the Suladri mountain to take a dip in Gosainkunda. Taking baths or dips in Gosainkunda Lake is said to wash away our sins and fulfill our wishes.
Since June 5, more than 1000 devotees have crossed Suladri Mountain and taken a dip in the holy lake, said, Milan Sapkota, assistant conservation officer at Langtang National Park.
Enhanced Security Measures for Gosaikunda Fair
In light of the increased number of visitors, Chief District Officer Vednidhi Khanal has assured that necessary security arrangements are in place. Pilgrims experiencing any issues during their journey can contact the District Administration Office or the District Police Office, said Venidhi Khanal.
Accommodations and Facilities
Nisan Gajurel, District President of the Hoteliers’ Association, has confirmed that there are sufficient accommodations available for the coming pilgrims. Gajurel highlighted that there are enough accommodations available for the Tirthalu (pilgrims).
The mela will last for 10 days.
The Gosaikunda Area Development Committee has issued rules encouraging visitors to preserve the natural environment. Pilgrims are instructed not to cut vegetation for sticks, to dispose of garbage safely, particularly food-related plastics, and to avoid disturbing local wildlife.
