At an altitude of 1,905 meters (around 6,250 feet), Jiri offers a cool, refreshing escape, perfect for a peaceful mountain retreat.

Travel tips:

Best time to visit: The best time to visit Jiri is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is clear and traveling conditions are best.

Accommodation: Jiri offers several hotels and hotels for travelers and tourists. Specials are available, but advance booking is required during peak times.

Travel route from Kathmandu to Jiri

Kathmandu to Jiri (by road):

  • Start in Kathmandu and head east to Bhaktapur and Dhulikhel.
  • Head to Dolakhanagar and then head east to Charikot. From Charikot, head northeast to Jiri.
  • The road trip takes several hours, through beautiful mountains and hills.
  • It would take around 7-8 hours

Kathmandu to Jiri (by air):

  • Alternatively, you can take a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport.
  • From Lukla, continue to Jiri after a beautiful view of Everest.
  • This hike is long but offers spectacular views and a chance to see the foothills of the Himalayas.
  • It would take around 1.5-2 hours

Both routes offer exceptional experiences: the road adventure gives scenic drives thru Nepalese nation-state, while the trekking route from Lukla affords a more adventurous and nature-immersive revel in.
