Electricity from the national transmission line has finally reached Gosainkunda, the famous holy site in Rasuwa district of Bagmati for the first time.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has been on a mission to supply power to remote areas like Gosainkunda and other rural areas of Nepal. This has brought relief to travelers besides locals after supplying electricity to Gosainkunda for the first time. This will make it easier for travelers to travel to reach Gosainkunda.
With the arrival of electric lights, the Gosainkunda area has become brighter. Electricity service has started to operation since Friday evening in the area which is 4,380 meters above sea level. The executive director of the authority, Kulman Ghising said that electricity from the national transmission line was supplied on the eve of the Janai Purnima. In this religious and tourist destination of Gosaikunda solar lights were being used before.
NEA executive director Ghising stated “ As part of the nationwide project to bring light to every corner of Nepal, they are now supplying electricity from the national grid to remote areas like Susta, Gosainkunda, Annapurna Base Camp, and Upper Mustang. This effort also extends to powering various religious, touristic, and historical sites, including monasteries, mosques, and temples across the country.
About 15-KVA power transmission has been distribution upto Gosainkunda and around eight kilometers from Chandanbari hills. The project of extending the power supply cost around Rs 30 million.
