A new Bailey bridge across the Myagdi River has been built at Naura in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-4. It is marking a significant development for the region. This 47-meter-long bridge, built by continuing hydropower operations along the Myagdi River, is expected to improve access for both locals and tourists.
The bridge will serve as an important link for anyone planning to climb the magnificent Dhaulagiri Mountain and follow the famed Dhawalagiri hiking path. Prem Prasad Pun, Chair of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality, emphasized the bridge’s significance, stating that it has enhanced transportation access to rural places such as Naura, Bagar, Simkos, Khiwang, and Khamla. He also said that it is helping both residents and hydropower projects in the region.
This infrastructural development is part of a larger attempt led by the 65-MW Myagdi Rivulet Hydropower Project. It is also the 37-MW Upper Myagdi Rivulet Hydropower Project. The actions have also built a three-kilometer road between Kekinki and Khiwang, improving connection in this remote region.
Looking ahead, the Myagdi Rivulet Hydropower Project plans to expand the route to Bagargaun after the rainy season is over. Meanwhile, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has started building the Dadakhet powerhouse. They will also build transmission lines to meet the region’s increasing electricity demand. With 13 hydropower projects totaling 238.23 MW under construction in Myagdi, the region is quickly becoming an important region for Nepal’s renewable energy growth.
