ANFA Sends Nepali U-20 & U-17 Teams to Compete in AFC & SAFF

The All-Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is Nepal’s governing body of football. It is responsible for the men’s and women’s national teams as well as club competitions. The All-Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has bid farewell to Nepali football teams as they prepare for international competition in two major tournaments. Tejulal Chaudhary, Minister for Youth and Sports, and ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nemwang with other authorities joined the send-off ceremony to wish the players well.

The U-20 team will participate in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Chinese Taipei, alongside Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, and Cambodia. Their journey begins on September 21 with the first match being against Cambodia. ANFA President Nemwang commented on the team’s preparedness, saying, “These players have worked extremely hard, and we are confident in their ability to perform on the international stage. The entire country is behind them.”

The key players for the U-20 team are goalkeepers Jiyarat Sheikh, Krishal Moktan, and Amit Tamata. Defenders Sabin Ghimire and Bikram Tamang are going to support the backline, while midfielders Abhinash Syangtan and Kushal Deuba, as well as attackers Anil Bomjom and Nima Wangel Tamang, aim to lead Nepal to success.

Similarly, ANFA also bid farewell to the U-17 squad, which will play in the SAFF U-17 Championship in Bhutan from September 20 to 30. Nepal will play their opening match against Pakistan on September 21.

The U-17 team includes goalkeepers Pemba Norbu Bhote and Ram Bahadur Bohora. The defenders are Sharan SK and Prashant Moktan, who will fight hard to keep the goal clean. Midfielders Krishna Bahadur Ale and John Bista will look to control the game, while attackers Rohit Shrestha and Santosh Gongba will lead the assault.

Both teams are heading into the tournaments with great spirit and are hopeful of making the country proud.
