One of the exhibitions, titled Artists-Four, features the works of four prominent Nepali artists: Erina Tamrakar, Shailee Rana Bista, Sheila Rajbhandary, and Bishal Maharjan. This showcase, supported by E-Arts Nepal and ART Space of Nepal, invites viewers to explore diverse themes within Nepal’s contemporary art scene. Tamrakar’s paintings bring together traditional and modern elements, creating a thought-provoking dialogue, while Bista’s works pay homage to Nepal’s rich heritage. Rajbhandary’s pieces offer a meditative look at cultural traditions, and Maharjan’s art provides fresh interpretations of Nepali life, capturing its essence through modern lenses.
The second exhibition honors the late Japanese artist Yumi Sano, who served as a volunteer in Nepal for several years. This exhibition was organized with cooperation from E-Arts Nepal, Yumi Sano Studio, and ART Space of Nepal. It showcases Sano’s strong connection to Nepal through drawings and paintings inspired by her experiences in Patan. Each painting displays her appreciation for Nepal’s colorful scenery and respect for the local culture.
Tamrakar, the organizer of the Nepali artists’ display, stated that Yumi’s memory continues to echo through her art. These simultaneous displays provide art enthusiasts a unique opportunity to see cross-cultural artistic expression in Kathmandu. It celebrates both Nepali and Japanese creative voices.
