The main celebrations take place in Janakpur, the ancient city of Mithila. Thousands of devotees are visiting the famous Janaki Temple to pray and take part in rituals.
The festival remembers a story from Tretayug. King Janak, Sita’s father, set a challenge for her admirer. They had to lift the great bow of Lord Shiva. Many tried and failed. But Ram, a prince from Ayodhya, lifted it with ease. When he tried to string it, the bow broke into pieces.
The weeklong festival includes events like matkor, tilakotsav, and swayamvar. The highlight is a grand procession with idols of Ram and Sita. Their wedding is performed with joy and devotion.
Bibaha Panchami is a beautiful celebration of love and tradition. It brings people together to honor the divine bond of Ram and Sita.
