The Mushroom Producers Association, Nepal, has organize an event for the celebration of National Mushroom Day on 30 December at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu. The celebrations will include exhibitions, cultural performance, and live demonstrations, among other activities.

As many as 40 exhibition halls will display all types of mushrooms namely Gobre, Kanya, King Oyster, and Shitake. A host of mushroom-based preparations will also be available for sampling by free visitors.
The fair will run from 10 am to 5 pm, offering an opportunity to learn about mushroom cultivation and enjoy cultural performances by national artists. The event is free for everyone.
With over 35,000 farmers involved in mushroom farming, the sector has seen significant growth, generating a turnover of Rs 15 billion. The fair is expected to attract 15,000 visitors, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of mushroom farming and encourage sustainable agriculture.
This event marks the continued efforts to promote mushroom farming in Nepal, which began in 2019 with the Bagmati Province’s declaration of National Mushroom Day.
