Pokhara gears up to host the Nepal-China International Mountain Cross-Country Championship this November 25, showcasing a spirited competition between ten teams from each nation. Themed ‘Race for Common Prosperity,’ this Championship aims to position Pokhara as a sports hub, boosting tourism in the picturesque ‘Lake City.’
Jointly organized by the Embassy of China in Nepal, Pokhara Metropolitan City, Nepal Tourism Board, Yunan Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association, and Hotel Association Pokhara, this event will witness 600 athletes vying for victory.
Arriving on a chartered flight from Yunan province, 104 individuals including athletes, officials, health professionals, and technicians will contribute to the Championship’s success. Coordinator Bishwa Shankar Palikhe outlines the four departments of competition: team, individual, happy run, and student race.
Teams will cover 40 kilometers through running, cycling, and boat racing, competing for a cash prize of up to Rs 360,000 for the winners. The Championship promises an exhilarating spectacle and celebrates athletic prowess in the heart of Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes.
