
On January 1st, 2024, over 10,000 tourists from India visited Janakpur Dham. They came from different spots in Dhanusha and Mahottari. This brought a lot more activity to Janakpur Dham. Security folks from Bihar, India, said that by 5 PM on Monday, 876 vehicles, like cars, motorcycles, and carts, entered Janakpur Dham from different borders. The Armed Police Force kept an eye on 656 vehicles coming from Jatahi and Janakpur Dham’s borders.
Customs officials in Jatahi and Janakpur Dham shared they made about NPR 17,605,276 (around USD 147,440) from all this movement.
These tourists are from various Indian states like Bihar, South India, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and more. Some hotels have planned special events to attract these visitors.
As more tourists come in, parking in Janakpur Dham is getting tighter, and there’s more happening around places like Janaki Temple. People running hotels say they’re feeling about 25% busier with all these tourists coming in.
