Melamchi drinking water to be distributed in the Kathmandu Valley from January 15

Minister of Drinking Water Mahindra Raya Yadav stated that water from the Melamchi drinking water project will be distributed in the Kathmandu Valley from January 15.

Melamchi has brought water to Sundarijal. Minister Yadav declared that water distribution in Kathmandu would start on January 15 at 9:00 a.m. during a Saturday inspection tour to the Water Treatment Plant in Sundarijal.

Minister Yadav gave the government departments and officials instructions to repair drinking water meters and damaged pipelines in various parts of the city on this particular occasion.

Following project maintenance and repair, which was necessary due to flooding and landslides at the project site in Sindhupalchowk district, water is once again being directed to Kathmandu.

On January 15, water supply will be guaranteed in the areas of Anamnagar, Minbhawan, Mahakalchaur, Rigani, Bhaktapur, Khumaltar, Balaju, and Bansbari, according to Secretary at the Ministry of Drinking Water Suresh Acharya. He said that it will be progressively distributed to other areas of the city.

About 170 million liters of water are delivered to Kathmandu each day, and plans are in place to provide Melamchi water to city residents.
