The much-awaited Melamchi water distribution in the Kathmandu Valley has started today.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will formally inaugurate the rerouting and redistribution of drinking water in Melamchi.It will open from Singha Durbar’s Prime Minister’s Office facilities. The communities of Anamnagar, Minbhawan, Mahankalchaur, Rigni, Bhaktapur, Khumaltar, Balaju, and Bansbari will gradually receive supplies of drinking water.
The Ministry of Drinking Water has taken the lead in bringing water in compliance with the Prime Minister’s orders by repairing the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
Melamchi provides approximately 170 million liters of water per day to Kathmandu.
Melamchi water has not been regularly distributed to Kathmandu since that time. The government is still working to regularly supply Kathmandu with Melamchi water.
