The Helambu Rural Municipality has issued a public notice stating that vehicles over 10 years old are not allowed to transport tourists. This decision follows a tragic accident in which two Bhutanese visitors lost their lives while exploring the Gumba of the Helambu region.
Rajubhai Shrestha, Chief Administrative Officer of the Helambu Rural Municipality, pointed out that the ban on older vehicles carrying tourists is implemented to address the increasing number of accidents in the Helambu area, known for its religious and tourist significance.
The public notice also pays tribute to the deceased Bhutanese nationals and extends wishes for a fast recovery to the injured. Helambu is currently witnessing a rise in the arrival of foreign visitors.
