Jamini-Bareng-Shantipur road getting blacktopped by Engineers.

It has been fifteen years since the opening of the ‘track’ section of the Kushma-Syera-Barang-Shantipur road in southern Baglung. The agreement for this road, divided into two sections, was reached four years prior to its commencement in 2065 BS. Currently, construction is underway for both segments.

First Segment (Kushma to Rangkhani):
Engineer Sharma Kyarabhan J.B., responsible for the initial phase, has not been able to adhere to the agreed-upon deadlines despite multiple extensions. The prolonged construction period has led to dissatisfaction among travelers, citing the risks posed by unpaved and dusty roads. As of now, only 62% of the work has been completed, with an allocated budget of NPR 24 crores 58 lakhs.

Second Segment (Kushma to Bareng):
This section spans approximately 11 kilometers, with significant portions yet to be completed. Although an agreement was reached in 2078 BS, progress has been slow. Even though the deadline for completion was set for Asar (June-July), only around 38% of the work has been finished. The estimated cost for completing this segment stands at NPR 34 crores 25 lakhs.

While challenges persist in the construction of both segments, authorities remain optimistic about the road’s eventual completion. The road’s significance for regional development and connectivity underscores the importance of overcoming obstacles and achieving timely completion.
