In Nisdi Rural Municipality, Ward No. 1, residents have to pay 700 rupees for a one-way trip to reach the municipality center, Mityal, from Ramapur, which leaves them disheartened. When they don’t work in the municipality for a day, it costs them up to 3,000 rupees.
However, there is hope as the improvement of the road leading to the municipality center has started. “Previously, it was very costly and time-consuming to travel to Mityal via Ramapur-Beladanda,” said a resident. “Now, there are vehicles running. The municipality has started road improvements even during the monsoon. We have nothing to complain about.”
Residents are delighted with the ongoing road improvement, not only for themselves but also for the more than 100 households in Bakamlung. After starting work on the 43-kilometer road, which will connect all wards, local residents are happy with the rapid progress. Within two years, when the work on the “Kem Khancha Marg” (a major tourist route) completes, the road will merge all wards and will be a matter of pride for the community.
Construction work on the road includes building drainage ditches, retaining walls, culverts, and laying water pipes. A contract worth NPR 156,469,839 has been signed to complete the work by Kartik 12, 2082 BS.
The plan to develop tourist routes and make access to the municipality easier has been accelerated by the local government. Within two years, the work to improve the road during both the dry and monsoon seasons has progressed.
The road connects various attractions such as the slate mine, the lake, the wind-generated electricity source, the forest, the cave, and the scenic areas, according to an Information Officer.
