Nepal’s government is planning to produce explosives in the country from next fiscal year.
During a meeting held on Tuesday within the Federal Parliament President Ram Chandra Poudel revealed the topmost governmental policy and overall strategy for the financial year 2081-2082. The policies also focused on enhancing and strengthening the military and defense forces of Nepal like the Nepal Army, Nepal police, and Armed police.
Self Sufficiency Ammunition and Explosives
A key Highlight of the policy is to start producing security and defense materials, which include ammunition and explosives, within the country. The main goal is to achieve self-sufficiency in arms and ammunition. It is a strategic shift towards purchasing materials locally and kickstarting production in the country.
Establishment of the National Defense University
The government also aims to establish a national defense university to carry out advanced studies and research in security, defense, and international relations. This plan is designed to encourage the development of a comprehensive understanding and perception of security matters.
Mental Health Matters
The government plans to provide both psychosocial counseling and services and yoga/meditation within prisons. The program will be conducted in response to the rising mental health concerns and suicide.
The government’s initiative to improve the nation’s security standards by locally manufacturing weaponry is also a strategy plan aimed at cutting costs. The government is determined to improve the security system and increase the level of expertise on security matters through establishing the University of National Defense even as they place much focus on making their own military supplies.
