Australian Camp is a mountain hike that offers breathtaking views of the lowlands and the Annapurna Mountain range. It is located in the Annapurna region. It takes about three hours to get there by bus or car from the northwest region of the Pokhara Valley.

Location and Distance

Australian Camp is located at a height of 2060 meters above sea level, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri Himalayas are all visible from the camp’s viewpoint.

Routes for Trekking

The trek starts from “Kande”, which is about an hour’s drive from Pokhara, to reach Australian Camp. The route to reach the camp is a steep stone stairway along the 1.5–2 hour. The camp is situated on a hill/crest with amazing views of the Lamjung Himal, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre “Kande.

Best Time for The Camp

The spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) seasons are a great time to visit Australian Camp because of the clear, moderate weather that is perfect for hiking.

Accommodations and Services

Australian Camp has a few cozy cabins and tea houses with great views of the surrounding mountains and little conveniences.

Australian Camp’s weather is unpredictable, so it’s important to carry  jackets and waterproof clothing.

Although the hike to reach Australian Camp has been designated as a moderate path, it is important that you be physically fit and ready for the difficult climb.

Here at Australian Camp, we need to book our accommodation in advance/pre-book, especially during peak season.

  • Food and Water

While reaching the camp, we should carry excessive water and snacks because there might be limited grocery stores available.
