Nepal had a significant rise in tourist visits this August, with 72,719 tourists. According to the record there is 8.3% increase from 67,153 visitors in August 2023. Although it is still below the pre-pandemic peak of 94,749 in August 2019. The current figures show a promising comeback.
According to the latest figures from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), while tourist visits in August 2024 have increased over the year, they are still fewer than the 94,749 visitors recorded in August 2019. The largest number of tourists came from India, which brought 25,832 visitors to Nepal’s thriving tourism industry. China, the United States, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh all made significant contributions.
The NTB’s statistics shows a consistent flow of tourists throughout the year, with 720,334 visits from January to August 2024. The year started well with 79,100 tourists in January. It peaked at 128,167 in March, and remained stable in the following months. Despite variations, August’s increasing trend represents a promising change in tourist recovery.
As Nepal’s tourism sector grows, the rising visitor numbers in August indicate a growing interest in the country’s numerous attractions.The growing trend highlights Nepal’s natural beauty and the rich cultural heritage that attracts tourist from around the world.
