Nepali Cricket Team Off to Canada for ICC World Cup League-2

Nepali cricket team heads to Canada for tri series against canada and oman starting 16th september

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has bid farewell to the Nepali cricket team. The team will be travelling to canada for the upcoming  ICC World Cup League-2 series in Canada. This is going to be a significant step in their Cricket World Cup League-2 journey.

The World Cup League-2 started in Nepal, and the team played matches against the Netherlands and Namibia. Nepal lost the match against Namibia and won against the Netherlands. Nepal is standing in the 7th position on the board with 2 points. There are eight teams in the league. 

Back in February, Nepali captain Rohit Paudel stated’ This is not the beginning we wanted, but we definitely want to win from the start in the next tri-series against Canada and Oman.

Nepal’s Tour Schedule

Nepal will play a triangular One Day International (ODI) series against Canada and Oman. The ODI matches will begin on September 16 and conclude on September 26. During this series, Nepal will face Canada on September 16 and 22, and Oman on September 18 and 24.

After the ODI series, Nepal will play a T-20 series which will start on September 28 and ends on October 3. This series will have six matches, for a total of 12 games across the ODI and T-20 formats. Nepal will participate in eight of these matches.

Upcoming Series in the USA

After playing these matches in Canada, the Nepali team will head to the USA for a series in October. There, they will compete against the host nation and Scotland.

Team Announcement

CAN has announced a 16-member squad for the Canadian tour. The team is  led by captain Rohit Paudel. The squad for series players:  Rohit Paudel (c), Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Anil Sah, Dev Khanal, Bhim Sarki, Aarif Sheikh, Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Arjun Saud, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Gulsan Jha, Kamal Singh Airee, Rijan Dhakal, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, Surya Tamang, Basir Ahmed, Akash Chand, Sagar Dhakal, and Sandeep Jora.

Monty Desai is the head coach, and Jagat Tamata has been appointed as the consultant coach for this tour. They are expected to bring valuable expertise to guide the team through their international fixtures.

Nepal vs. Canada – September 22, 7:45 PM

Nepal vs. Canada – September 28, 9:45 PM

Nepal vs. Oman – September 29, 9:45 PM

Nepal vs. Canada – October 1, 9:45 PM

Nepal vs. Oman – October 2, 9:45 PM

Past Performance and Expectations

This marks Nepal’s second League-2 series in Canada. Their previous encounter on home soil saw them secure only one victory out of four matches against the Netherlands and Namibia. The team is expected to improve their performance and make a strong impression in this series. This is another chance for Nepal to improve their rankings on the board.
