A 75-kilometer route connecting Mustang in Gandaki Province and Dolpa in Karnali Province has been publicly established. It brings new opportunities for local trade, tourism, and convenience. This road is part of the federal government’s Manang-Mustang-Dolpa-Jumla project. It connects Varagung Muktikshetra in Mustang and Charka Tangsong Rural Municipality in Dolpa.
Rinjin Namgyal Gurung, Chair of Varagung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality, mentioned that the road connecting Mustang’s Varagung Muktikshetra to Dolpa’s Charka Tangsong Rural Municipality is almost complete. He also highlighted the need to improve 20 kilometers of roads and construct four motorable bridges for smooth transportation operations.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management has set aside Rs. 8.5 million for a bridge at Sukusamba on the Dolpa border. A proposal has been made for the government to construct three more bridges and upgrade the roads in risky areas for regular transport operations, Rinjin Namgyal Gurung said.
This project began in the fiscal year 2075/76 BS. It has received a Rs 220 million investment and has opened 56.5 kilometers of road thus far. The road will be the quickest route between Dolpa and Kathmandu.
Tourists have started visiting Sangta and Yakkharka after the construction of the road. The road is expected further to enhance tourism and local development in the region.
