Dhime Dance at Basantapur to Mark World Tourism Day 2024

To celebrate World Tourism Day 2024, 1,000 dancers performed the Dhime dance at Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu. The event, organized by the Kathmandu Durbar Square Tourism Promotion Association, was led by Sudan Munikar and celebrated the theme “Tourism and Peace.”

The dancers, dressed in traditional Nepali attire, synchronized their moves to the rhythm of the Dhime instrument, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. The performance, originally postponed due to recent flooding, became a highlight of the World Tourism Day celebrations.

The event showcased Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, drawing admiration from both locals and tourists. Along with the mass Dhime dance, other cultural presentations added to the festivities, promoting Nepal as a hub of tradition and unity.
