Nepal advanced to the semi-finals of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 after defeating Sri Lanka 6-0 in their last group-stage match. Nepal won the game on Thursday at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, putting them first in Group B.

Sabita Rana Magar scored in 8 minutes after the game started. Then followed by Sabitra Bhandari’s goal in the 11 minutes. Rekha Paudel scored two more goals, one in the 13 minutes and another one shortly before halftime. It gave Nepal a comfortable 4-0 lead. In the second half, Amisha Karki scored in the 47th minute, and Rashmi Kumari Ghising secured the win in injury time.
Nepal’s unbeaten run placed them at the top of Group B with seven points, despite finishing level with Bhutan, who also advanced to the semi-finals. Nepal’s superior goal difference secured their group-winning position.
In the semi-finals, Nepal will face Group A runner-up India, while Bangladesh, the Group A leader, will take on Bhutan. Both semifinal matches are scheduled for Sunday, October 27.
