A big craft fair recently happened in the capital of Nepal from December 14 to 18. They made about Rs 20 million from selling different handmade items like jewelry, clothes, leather goods, and more. The fair had 120 stalls and was meant to help Nepali crafters sell their stuff internationally.
The goal was to connect local sellers with people who import crafts. The Industry Minister of Bagmati Province, Ram Krishna Chitrakar, said these handmade things help Nepal make money and create jobs. He thinks we should protect and grow this industry.
The group organizing the fair said Nepal sells crafts to over 60 countries, and the craft market is worth Rs 24 billion. Every year, Nepal exports about Rs 12 billion worth of handmade things and around 1.1 million people work in this field.
