Sixty students and instructors from a Kathmandu school traveled to Mustang. On their way, they stopped at a place called Kalopani. Meanwhile, a family of 23, who came to visit Mustang, also spent some time there. They loved their peaceful surroundings and the breathtaking views of the Nilgiri, Tukuche, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri Himalayas.
One popular place for visitors to Mustang to take a vacation is Kalopani.
It is situated at a height of roughly 2,530 meters above sea level, close to Myagdi. Hills, woods of rhododendron and pine, and lovely vegetation surround the region. The local committee is promoting tourism by displaying Thakali culture, conserving wildlife, and promoting eco-tourism.
Kalopani has around 20 hotels and lodges where up to a thousand people can stay overnight. Even during busy seasons, these accommodations are always occupied. Locals also contribute to the lively atmosphere, especially those involved in construction and nearby residents.
From Kalopani, it takes about an hour to reach Dhaulagiri Icefall and Kalibara, which offer breathtaking views of Mustang. There are also places like Sekung, Bhuchautro, and Tititall, where development is ongoing. You can visit Chauri and sheep farms there and enjoy tasty dishes made from organic potatoes. Additionally, the Thakali Museum raises awareness about the region’s culture and heritage.
